Project overview
Mowi Scotland embarked on a significant expansion and refurbishment project at their existing food processing factory in Fort William. The project involved the construction of a steel-framed extension clad with metal, alongside internal modifications and the creation of new facilities. The works were strategically divided into three main phases, with additional phases addressing external areas and internal office spaces.
Key challenges
The project presented several logistical and coordination challenges, most notable being the changing sequence of works and the crucial requirement of working alongside occupied areas of the existing factory.

Key successes
A significant success factor for the project was the collaborative working relationship established with the client’s own contractors, who hailed from various European countries, including Norway and Iceland. This seamless integration of different teams and working cultures proved essential in navigating the complexities of the phased construction and ensuring the project’s overall success.
