By prioritising sustainable practices, valuing nature and reducing our impact on climate change we are striving to play our part as a responsible business in tackling climate and nature emergencies.
We are committed to reducing our environmental impact through responsible construction practices and sustainable resource management. As part of this we have had our baseline carbon footprint report independently verified by BSI for the most recent reporting year, 2023, and we are now on BSI’s Net Zero Pathway.
We are working towards the standards of the Carbon Framework IWA42 by setting reduction targets for Scope 1,2 and 3 emissions, developing a mitigation plan and embedding measurement and monitoring processes to track our progress.
We are committed to reducing by 2030 our Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions by 42% from our 2023 base year. In practice, this means a reduction of 437 tonnes across Scopes 1 and 2, and a reduction of 1278 tonnes across Scope 3 emissions, which is founded on Science Based Targets aligned with 1.5 degree Celsius warming science.
In the longer term, we are committed to achieving a 90% absolute reduction in emissions by 2045. This target aligns with the emissions reductions required under the 1.5°C scenario and is consistent with Scotland’s national net zero target year of 2045.
Our transition plan to reduce our carbon emissions will follow the IEMA Greenhouse Gas Management Hierarchy.
The plan is currently under development and should be completed by this summer. We aim to be fully transparent and the plan will be available here when it is complete.
Our Environmental, Social and Governance approach (ESG) is externally assessed by various independent certifiers and auditors including BSI, ISO and the Social Value Portal .
We recognise the need to adapt to changing conditions and we measure and review our business practices regularly, taking into account the feedback we receive from our stakeholders and external auditors, to identify steps we can take to improve our contribution to a sustainable world.
We are working towards our first full annual ESG report which we will be published on our website this year.
