PRE-5 EDUCATION UNIT, TOBERMORY, MULL
CLIENT: ARGYLL AND BUTE COUNCIL
PROJECT OVERVIEW
TSL was commissioned by Argyll and Bute Council to build a new Pre-5 education unit in Tobermory, Isle of Mull, working alongside project engineers ATK. The project included completely enclosed larch fencing and soft play area with rubber safety surface.
WORK CARRIED OUT
The building was clad with sustainable Scottish larch, insulated with pre-fabricated panel cassettes filled with warmcell 500 sheep's wool insulation, and finished with a red tin roof. It is heated by a wood pellet boiler. Due to the sloping nature of the site, a concrete solum was placed across the area of the building.
Because the building would be used by children, alarms and panic bars were installed, along with key fob access.
Accurate programming meant the project was completed for the start of the school year 2010.
