Local communities are at the heart of what TSL is all about. As part of our responsible and sustainable approach to doing business, we always aim to add social value and leave a positive lasting legacy in the communities in which we work. From the provision of quality, decent work and apprenticeship opportunities to sustainable procurement, charitable donations, and community volunteering our positive engagement with local people makes an enduring difference.
We facilitate employee engagement and involvement with local charitable and community initiatives through our volunteering policy. All our employees are entitled to two paid days leave each year to volunteer in the communities in which we work, allowing us to support initiatives close to the heart of our employees.
This summer we are launching our new social impact fund which offers targeted financial support to local groups working to tackle issues and inequalities which are important in our local communities. Our plan is to identify four themes each year, one per quarter and to invite funding applications from groups working to address these issues. In the first year of operation the topics are child poverty, food poverty, environmental issues and wellbeing initiatives. The application process is short and simple and donations are limited to £250 per application in order to maximise opportunities for community groups to take part. We track, capture and record our efforts to add social value in everything we do through the Social Value Portal. This is the leading UK standard for independently validating organisations’ social value contributions, using a range of internationally recognised metrics.
In 2024 we are proud to report that our social value contributions to local communities was £XXXX
